Project Description

The Deep Rock Tunnel Connector captures and conveys combined sewer overflows to the pump station. The core function of the pump station is to empty the tunnel system and deliver the flow to the Southport Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. 

Project Stats

  • Project in construction

  • Plant improvements include:

  1. Expansion of Secondary Treatment System from 150 million gallons per day (MGD) to 250 MGD

  2. Enhancement of primary clarification facility

  3. New wet-weather disinfection system

  4. Expansion of headworks including screening, grit removal and new process/yard piping

  • Southport AWTP will receive flow from the Deep Rock Tunnel Connector Pump Station

  • Southport AWTP will provide a peak treatment rate of 250 MGD

  • Project to be completed by December 31, 2017
