Sewer Rehabilitation Project to Result in Lane Restrictions Downtown

INDIANAPOLIS – On or after October 1, Citizens Energy Group will begin performing sewer rehabilitation work along 11th Street between Illinois and Pennsylvania Streets, and on Pennsylvania Street between 11th and 12th Streets. The work is expected to last through late November.

Lane restrictions during this project are necessary to complete the work safely. Full road closures are not expected. Access to businesses and parking lots will always remain open.

This work is part of a project to rehabilitate sewer lines that were installed as long ago as 1893. Improvements to these structures are necessary to maintain system performance and reliability in these areas, and to avoid sewer failures such as those that occurred downtown last summer.
